Interior AI: From MVP to a Native AR + AI Design Platform

How we took Interior AI from a fast FlutterFlow MVP to a native iOS platform that combines AI room redesign with live AR staging. It now has 3,400+ App Store ratings worldwide and ships in 13 languages.

The challenge

Interior AI started as a simple promise: photograph a room, pick a style, and see it redesigned by AI in seconds. Users kept asking the next question: will it actually fit in my room? Answering that meant real-time augmented reality, which pushes a mobile app to its limits.

What we built

We launched the first version quickly with FlutterFlow to validate demand. Once AR became the priority, our engineers rebuilt Interior AI natively in Swift and SwiftUI, after proving the hardest parts in two focused prototypes.

  • AR staging: place 3D furniture at true scale on floors, walls and ceilings, with lighting matched to the real room and occlusion on LiDAR iPhones.
  • Live wall and floor design: detects real floors and walls and re-surfaces them live with physically based materials tiled at real-world scale. It works on non-LiDAR iPhones too.
  • AI design studio: interior, exterior and garden redesign, virtual staging, object replacement and an AI design chat.
  • 3D tools: room scanning with floor plans and PDF export, image-to-3D, and on-device object capture.

How we engineered it

Our engineers planned the architecture around a single principle: the AR session must never stutter. Textures load in parallel off the main thread, and models are cached after the first download. AI generation runs on our own backend, while depth estimation for "spatial" results runs entirely on the device.

Results

Interior AI is live on the App Store with 3,400+ ratings worldwide. It's available in 13 languages and on the web at interior-ai.app, with an Android version in development.
