App development cost in Dubai: what an app costs in 2026
In 2026, app development cost in Dubai runs about AED 10,000 to 90,000 for a first version and AED 90,000 to 300,000 or more for a full product, plus 15 to 25% a year for maintenance (HashCode, Skimbox). iHux: 14 working days; one platform, one core flow; fixed £7,500 for projects booked by 28 Feb 2027, then £9,500. That is about AED 36,650, then about AED 46,420, at 29 October 2026 exchange rates; we invoice in pounds.
Ask three app development companies in Dubai for a price and you can get answers ten times apart. None has to be wrong. "An app" can mean a first version with one job, or a platform with payments, roles and an admin panel. This post covers the published prices, what moves them, and how to compare quotes. iHux works with founders and companies across the UAE.
How much does app development cost in Dubai?
Two Dubai agencies published price guides in 2026, and their ranges are close:
| Stage | HashCode (2026) | Skimbox (2026) |
|---|---|---|
| First version or MVP | AED 25,000 to 90,000+, 6 to 10 weeks | AED 10,000 to 40,000 |
| Full product or mid-complexity app | AED 90,000 to 300,000+, 3 to 6 months | AED 40,000 to 120,000 |
| Complex or enterprise | From about AED 300,000 | From AED 120,000 |
| Yearly maintenance | 15 to 25% of the build cost | 15 to 25% of the build cost |
Maintenance covers OS updates, store rule changes, hosting and fixes. Treat all of these as rough ranges. They come from agencies that sell app development, and every quote depends on scope.
How long does it take to build an app in Dubai?
HashCode (2026) puts a first version at 6 to 10 weeks and a full product at 3 to 6 months. The biggest lever on time is the same as on cost: how much goes into the first release.
An iHux MVP takes 14 working days, because the scope is fixed at one platform and one core flow. The 14-day MVP playbook shows what happens on each day.
What drives the cost of mobile app development in Dubai?
Features and scope. Each extra screen, user role or integration adds days. A booking app with payments and an admin panel costs far more than an app that does one thing well.
Platforms. iOS and Android are two apps to test and release, and a web admin panel is a third product. Skimbox says building all three roughly doubles the cost of one mobile platform. HashCode says one cross-platform codebase typically saves 25 to 45% against two native apps.
Backend. Accounts, payments and search all need a server. Skimbox says a real backend often adds 30 to 40% to the total. Cheap quotes leave it thin, because users never see it.
Language. Many UAE apps need Arabic and English. Arabic means right-to-left layouts and proper Arabic type, which is design and testing work, not only translation. Our own apps ship in up to 15 languages.
Rules and data. The UAE's personal data law, Federal Decree Law No. 45 of 2021, has applied since 2 January 2022 (UAE Government portal). If your app stores personal data, ask each builder how they handle it. Skimbox says building in sector rules for regulated fields adds 10 to 25% compared with an unregulated build.
Who builds it: agency, freelancer or offshore team?
Skimbox's 2026 table gives these typical UAE day rates:
| Who builds it | Typical day rate (Skimbox, 2026) |
|---|---|
| Top-tier Dubai agency | AED 1,000 to 3,500 |
| Mid-tier UAE agency | AED 700 to 1,500 |
| Senior UAE freelancer | AED 400 to 900 |
| Offshore team | AED 250 to 600 |
The day rate is only half the story. A cheaper team that needs more days, or more of your time to manage, can cost the same in the end. Compare the total for a written scope, and who answers for it if it runs late.
Two smaller costs catch people out. Skimbox lists the Apple Developer Program at USD 99 a year and Google Play at USD 25 once. It also notes that a Dubai-licensed agency adds 5% VAT to the invoice.
How to choose an app development company in Dubai
Price is one line on the proposal. Check these too:
- Is the scope written down? A list of screens and flows, not a sentence.
- Who reads the code? Ask whether a senior engineer reviews it, and whether you get a written report.
- Who owns the code? It should sit in your accounts from the start.
- What happens after launch? How long are bugs fixed for free, and what does support cost after that?
- Have they shipped their own apps? A team with apps on the App Store knows what store review and real users do to a product. You can see ours here.
Why start with an MVP?
Most of the risk in a new app is not the code. It is whether people want it. The ranges above show how fast a full build climbs past AED 100,000. Spending that before you know the core idea works is the expensive way to learn.
An MVP tests one idea with real users, on one platform. If it works, you build the next version on the same code. If it doesn't, you've lost weeks, not a year. Our post on what it costs to build an MVP compares UK and US prices too.
What an MVP looks like with iHux
The offer is the same in every market:
- One platform and one core flow, agreed in writing before we start.
- 14 working days from kickoff to delivery.
- Fixed £7,500 for projects booked by 28 February 2027, then £9,500: about AED 36,650, then about AED 46,420, at 29 October 2026 rates. Quoted and invoiced in pounds, with no hourly billing. You pay a deposit at kickoff and the rest on delivery.
- A senior engineer who didn't build it reviews the code, with automated code scanning alongside, and writes a security report a non-technical founder can read.
- The code is yours from the first commit, in your own accounts.
- 7 days of bug fixes after delivery.
The VAT on your quote depends on which iHux company invoices, and is confirmed in the quote.
You see the work at five checkpoints: three design directions on day 1, approved designs on day 3, a working build on day 7, the senior review on day 11, and the code, security report and handover on day 14. What the review finds is fixed before day 14, and the delivery date doesn't move.
An iHux MVP can ship in up to two languages, such as Arabic and English, at the same fixed price. Tell us on the first call which two you need.
A second platform, extra flows and ongoing features come after the MVP. We quote that build from its scale and estimated effort, once the first version has done its job. The MVP itself stays a fixed price.

What should I ask an app development company in Dubai before signing?
Ask for the scope in writing, who reviews the code, who owns it, how long bugs are fixed for free, and what VAT applies. Get every answer in writing before you pay.
Do I need an Arabic version of my app?
It depends on your users. If your first users read Arabic, build it in from the start, because right-to-left layouts are harder to add later.
